Okay. I want to start this post by telling you all to watch the video if you haven't yet.

Good.

Now I'm going to get into this a little more.

As most of you are probably aware this video has been going around the internet world and making quite a bit of noise if I may add.

I watched it for the first time yesterday after seeing it posted by like, a million major celebrity folks.

That's right.

Yesterday was the first time I really paid attention to this project.

I have heard about the Invisible Children project before but I had never really looked into that much.

So I'll admit it. The celebrity peoples did in fact cause me to finally pay attention.

And here's the thing.

That's fine.

See, today when I logged onto facebook (Yes, more social media. Yes, this is also fine.),

a person I know had posted something sarcastic about how many people were suddenly up in arms about this issue.

Something along the lines of how all these people are stupid because they are only JUST starting to pay attention to these poor children in Uganda and how the only reason they are paying attention now is because of the celebrities supporting it.

I won't lie. While watching the video I felt guilty about the fact that I had only just started to really pay attention. And a part of me felt guilty for "jumping on the bandwagon".

But here's the thing.

Jumping on the "bandwagon" is okay.

In fact. If you watch the video the fact that celebrities are supporting it and making this issue so popular is

KIND OF THE POINT.

The idea that some people are better than others because they have supported the issue for longer is IDIOTIC.

That's right. I said it.

IDIOTIC.

The whole point of this movement is to get as many people as possible to

PAY ATTENTION.

And the fact that people are in fact,

starting to pay attention,

does not make them celebrity driven mindless morons who do what they are told.

It means that something terrible is happening in the world and now that it's come to all our attention we will

do something about it.

It doesn't matter why people are paying attention.

All that matters is that they are.

Do you think the wonderful people who made that video are walking around like they're so high and mighty?

Do you think that if you met one of the people who have been working on this project for YEARS, who have actually BEEN to Uganda and SEEN with their OWN eyes the devastation

and said you had just started supporting the issue that they would say,

"Whatever I've been supporting it for longer...you're just doing it because Clooney said to."???

No!!!

They would welcome you because what they have been working on for ALL THESE YEARS is to get people like you to support it!

This is not an issue about who supported what when.

This is bigger than your ego.

So don't feel bad about "jumping on the bandwagon."

It doesn't make you a "trend follower."

It just makes you a human who recognizes when something is wrong.

And if you're one of those people out their talking down to others because you "supported the issue for longer,"

STOP IT.

I don't care if the only reason they watched the video is because Snooki's baby told them to and all they want to do is where the bracelet because they like red.

At least they're helping to spread the message.

Okay.

That's my little bitch-fest for today.

That facebook comment just set me off a bit.

I DESPISE it when people feel the need to hate on others for such stupid reasons.

I mean, if we can't all agree on THIS then the world is in some serious trouble.
